Lotto 6/49 is Canada's classic national lottery, running since 1982. It was the first nationwide Canadian lottery to let players pick their own numbers. Draws happen every Wednesday and Saturday.

   Pick 6 numbers from 1 to 49

   A basic $3 play gives you one set of six numbers plus a guaranteed $1 million GOLD BALL draw entry. You can choose your own numbers or use Quick Pick.

   Match 6 to win the Classic Jackpot

   Match all 6 main numbers to win the Classic Jackpot, which starts at $5 million and rolls over if unwon. Smaller prize tiers pay out for 2/6 + bonus, 3/6, 4/6, 5/6, and 5/6 + bonus.

   GOLD BALL draw

   Every ticket is automatically entered into the GOLD BALL draw. One ball is drawn from the jackpot pool — if it's the gold ball, the ticket holder wins the Gold Ball Jackpot (minimum $1 million, growing $1 million per draw until won, up to $68 million).

4. 4

   Bonus number second tier

   After the main numbers, one bonus number is drawn from the remaining balls. Matching 5 of 6 plus the bonus number wins the second-tier prize.
